Why mathematics and coaching belong together

At first glance this combination looks like a break. It is not. Mathematics teaches you to take a problem apart until its structure becomes visible, and to distinguish between what has been proven and what is merely assumed. I need both in every consulting project – when a process landscape has become opaque, and equally when nobody in a team can say any more what is actually getting in the way of working together.

What mathematics does not teach is how to deal with the people who are supposed to carry a change. Technically correct solutions regularly fail because nobody wanted them. That is why I studied business coaching and change management alongside my work – not as an additional qualification on paper, but because 27 years of IT projects kept bringing me the same experience: the difficult questions are rarely technical ones.

What that means for you

You do not get a consultant who hands you an architecture model and then leaves when the organisation does not follow. Nor a coach who has to pass on the first question about the IT landscape. I can read both – a data model and a team dynamic – and that is why the 8-Level Model brings both sides together in one frame: from vision through to IT systems.

Learning does not stop with a degree

The guest studies in Oldenburg stand for an attitude that matters to me: I attend lectures on subjects that interest me, without a certificate at the end of it.
